THE BIG QUESTION

questionI have watched with interest the ongoing debate about the rightness or wrongness of Phil Robertson’s willingness to answer a question.
Much of the same rhetoric ensued when Dan Cathy, owner of Chik-Fil-A, expressed his beliefs.
Both men, high-profile types in business and entertainment, were asked about their views on homosexuality. Since both men are out-of-the-closet-Christians, their response was predictable. Both were persecuted for holding such views.

In fact, many of us have probably said at one time or another, “I have a great idea.” Nothing wrong with being your own cheerleader, I guess; but I do get a kick out of hearing that particular statement.

Why is this? Why do we automatically assume that our thought processes, or our opinion, or ideas are best?
